Born in the morning
I feel true to my inherent nature,
embracing the early hours to the point of wishing I could exist in them forever.
With this offering
I honor the night.
By rising out of bed and staying up when I hear the call.
In the passionate energy of a new song,
I lose myself
recording bullfrogs and cicadas on the porch,
in the dark,
resting, listening.
Like the morning
there is a stillness.
It tells me I don’t have to choose.
In this eternal moment
the dark and light are one.
